Terms of Service
Last updated: May 17, 2026
By using CareerLauncher (the platform at careerlauncher.ai and any tenant subdomain under it), you agree to these Terms. If you are using the platform on behalf of a college, host organization, or funder, you also agree to be bound on behalf of that organization.
CareerLauncher is in active development with a small group of design partners. The platform is provided as-is during this phase. We'll always do our best to keep your data safe and the service running, but neither uptime SLAs nor refunds apply at the design-partner stage.
Accounts
- You're responsible for keeping your password confidential. Use a unique one.
- One account per real person. Don't share credentials, even within the same org.
- You must use an email address whose domain is approved by the tenant you're signing up to.
- You're responsible for the work, comments, feedback, attestations, and applications you submit through your account.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Submit work, hours, or attestations that are inaccurate or falsified.
- Access tenants, projects, or profiles you have no legitimate role in.
- Scrape, mass-export, or systematically harvest other users' data.
- Attempt to bypass authentication, authorization, or rate-limiting.
- Use the platform for activity that violates law, your institution's policies, your funder's grant agreement, or your host organization's policies.
- Upload material you don't have rights to, or that contains malware, abusive content, or other people's personal data without their consent.
We may suspend accounts that violate these rules.
Roles and what they can do
- Students log work, attest to its accuracy, attach deliverables, and manage their profile and skill record.
- Host supervisors approve / reject / request clarification on submitted work and provide feedback for students they supervise.
- College program leads / coordinators have read-only oversight for grant compliance and can generate audit reports.
- Host employer reps manage projects at their organization, post positions, accept applications, and view work hosted at their tenant.
- Admins at each tenant have elevated permissions within that tenant only.
Roles are scoped per tenant. Holding admin in one tenant does not grant access to any other.
Your data, your records
You retain ownership of the work, feedback, artifacts, and personal information you submit. By using the platform, you grant CareerLauncher a non-exclusive license to host, display, and process that content as needed to deliver the service to you and to the parties you've explicitly granted access (your supervisor, your college's program lead, etc.).
Student work records are exportable; you can request a portable copy at any time via hello@careerlauncher.ai.
Audit trail and grant compliance
Submitted timesheets, supervisor decisions, and other audit-relevant actions are recorded with attestation signatures, timestamps, and originating IP. These records are retained for grant-audit purposes — typically 3+ years post-program-end, or as required by the relevant funder's agreement — even if you later delete other parts of your account.
Tenant-level commitments
Colleges and host organizations using CareerLauncher as a tenant are responsible for:
- Their own FERPA / data-privacy compliance for student data they bring onto the platform.
- Honoring decisions made within their tenant (timesheet approvals are binding on the host org; grant reports are the college's record of work performed).
- Onboarding only legitimate members and revoking access for departed staff.
We will sign a Data Processing Agreement on request and provide a SOC 2-aligned controls statement once the platform is past design-partner stage.
Service availability
During the design-partner phase, no uptime SLA is guaranteed. We aim for best-effort reliability and will give partners reasonable notice of planned downtime when possible.
Pricing
CareerLauncher is free for design partners during the current phase. Pricing for colleges, host organizations, and funders will be introduced in future phases and communicated in advance.
Termination
You can stop using CareerLauncher and request deletion of your account at any time. We can suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, with notice when reasonable. Audit-trail data may be retained per the previous section.
Disclaimers
The platform is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. CareerLauncher does not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that work records cannot be modified by authorized parties.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, CareerLauncher's total liability arising out of or related to your use of the platform is limited to the greater of $100 or the total amount you have paid CareerLauncher in the 12 months preceding the claim. We are not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages.
Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, USA, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules.
Changes
We may update these Terms. We'll email the address on your account before material changes take effect. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the current version.
